Summary: September was unusually hot with many days in the 80s and 90s. This was the hottest September on record since 1992, by far. The 94 degrees on the 14th was the latest it's ever been so hot. It was also a dry month, especially during the first half. Scattered thunderstorms did not amount to much rainfall. Additional notes/records 13th high 92 F, 2 degrees shy of the record 94 in 1952. 14th high 94 F. This was 1 degree shy of being the hottest temperature for the entire year and also 1 degree shy of the record 95 again in 1952. 15: Record high 92 F. September 1998 ranked in the top 5 (5th) warmest for its mean maximum temperature of 81.2 F.
