DAYS WITH FOG 3 THUNDER 1 1-9: Warm with all but one day in the 80s and extremely dry conditions continuing. 12: A record-long streak of 26 consecutive days without measurable rainfall finally came to an end this evening with a light shower dropping .04" of rain. 16: Light rain began late this afternoon and continued through the evening. 17: Heavy rain overnight, ended around daybreak, 1.12" fell. Storm total in 12 hours was 1.34" and was attributed to Pacific Tropical system Ishmael. 21: Warm high 81 F. Heavy thunderstorms brushed by mostly to the south and east late this afternoon. 22: Cool steady rain this afternoon .39" fell. 23: Cold low 37 F this morning. 24: Cold low 38 F. 28: Warm high 80 F. MONTHLY SUMMARY A record-long dry streak that began Aug. 17 finally ended on September 12th with a light shower. It was a very dry month, with a front combined with the remnants of a Pacific tropical storm dropping a badly needed 1.34" of rain on the 16th-17th. Overall, it was a very quiet month. Temperatures were below normal, owing almost entirely to below normal overnight low readings, which reached the 30s as early as the 23rd. Additional notes/records 12: 0.04" of rain snaps a record 26-day streak with no measurable rainfall. 17: Daily record 1.12" of rainfall. However this record was smashed in 2004 when Hurricane Ivan dumped 2.58" of rain on this date.
