DAYS WITH FOG 11 THUNDER 7 2: Hot and humid high 91 F. A series of severe thunderstorms passed east of the area, prompting tornado warnings. A shower this evening dropped .07" of rain. 3: Hot again high 90 F. Only .06" of rain as very heavy thunderstorms lined up and trained just south and east of the area. Lots of lightning in all directions late this evening. 4: Finally some decent rainfall shortly after midnight, heavy at times, with imbedded thunderstorms .60" of rain fell. Became mostly sunny and pleasant this afternoon. 8-9: Very brief early PM t-storms both days 14: Hot again high 90 F. 15: Very warm high 88. Brief early afternoon thunderstorm downpour followed by lighter rains through the evening .48" fell. 16: Periods of rain, heavy at times overnight. Much cooler high 66 F. Another .83" of rain fell today. 17: Cool and foggy with light rain and drizzle. 21: Brief heavy shower at mid-afternoon .18" fell. 23: Light rain/drizzle this evening. 25: Cool with steady rain during the afternoon & evening .54" 26: Overnight showers .29" fell, then partly sunny and warm high 81 F. 27: Overcast with heavy rain and thunderstorms this morning. Rain ended by early afternoon. 1.00" fell. Partial clearing by early evening and windy. 28-30: Scattered light showers. Low reached 35 by midnight on the 30th. MONTHLY SUMMARY September brought some much-needed rainfall to the area. Temperatures were near normal, with some very warm readings during the first half but an overall cooling trend during the second half, offsetting the warmth of the first half. Precipitation was quite frequent, with a September record 20 days with measurable rainfall, although more than half of those days had less than .10". There were 4 days with over a half-inch, one day with an inch (27th). Thunderstorms were unusually frequent for September, with 7 days of thunder observed.
