First day with good sunshine in a week. 2: Some AM clouds and a few sprinkles then became sunny and pleasant with light breezes. 3: Variable clouds and slightly cooler with light NW breezes. 4: Cool low 53 F. Mostly sunny becoming partly cloudy and pleasant. 5: Cool low 52 F. Mostly sunny and pleasant with light E winds. 6: Another clear cool night and sunny mild day. 7-10: AM fog then sunny and mild each day. 11-13: Sunny and warm. 14: Sunny AM, becoming partly cloudy PM. Warm with increasing humidity. 15: Variable clouds, warm and humid. Few late evening sprinkles, trace. 16: Partly sunny, warm and humid. Few brief showers early afternoon and again late this evening .11" fell with some thunder. Strong storms broke up and went north and south of here as usual. 17: Few light showers overnight and this morning .04" fell. Remained mostly cloudy and cooler. 18: Partly to mostly cloudy throughout the day with seasonal temperatures and little wind. 19: Partly to mostly sunny, warmer and more humid. Again little to no wind. Faint lightning to NW late. 20: Lightning and thunder for several hours midnight-3am as strong storms to the NW inched this way but fell apart again. Mostly overcast, occasional light drizzle, breezy and cooler today. 21: Early fog, then sunny and pleasant. 22: Mostly sunny, warm and breezy with occasional high cloud cover. 23: Breezy and mild overnight. Some thunder and sprinkles around 4am but another solid line of heavy rain and storms fell apart as it moved into the area. This is the 3rd or 4th time in the past week this has happened. Remained mostly overcast all day. 24: Mostly cloudy and somewhat cooler. High 68 breaks streak of 27 consecutive days 70 or higher. 25: Partly sunny AM becoming cloudy during PM hours and warmer. 26: Cooler and cloudy with showers of varying intensity through the day and evening. A total of .53" fell by 9:30pm. Became windy by evening as winds shifted from S to WNW with gusts 20-30 mph. 27: Became sunny with low humidity and seasonable temperatures. 28: Sunny and pleasant. 29: Mild overnight. Strong thunderstorm 6-7am the heaviest around 6:30am with strong wind gusts 30-40+ mph and horizontal downpours. A few more showers ended by 10am .43" total fell. Scattered tree damage and power outages in the area. Clearing, cool and continued windy this afternoon. 30: Chilly overnight low 38 F with light patchy frost. Sunny and pleasant early fall day. SUMMARY: This was one of the warmest, driest Septembers on record. Summer-like temperatures and the lack of rainfall dominated the weather pattern. Two strong cold fronts late in the month provided some much-needed rain and finally ushered in some cooler fall temperatures.
