Warm high 80 F. REMNANTS OF HURRICANE FRANCES 8: Rain from remnants of Frances moved into the area about 5am. Heavy at times during the morning then moderate and steady through 10pm total 1.55" fell today. No major flooding in this area but areas to the south & east in central PA and western MD were hammered with 6-8" of rain and lots of flooding. 9: Showers overnight and through mid-afternoon ending by 4pm another .41" fell for a storm total of 1.96". Became windy with partial clearing by 5pm. Winds shifted from SSW to NNW and gusted 30+ mph. 11: Dense AM fog and cool then mostly sunny & pleasant. 15: Cloudy overnight with a bit of drizzle but no measurable rain. Mostly cloudy through the day. 16: Mild and pleasant day with variable clouds and a high of 78 F. REMNANTS OF HURRICANE IVAN 17: Steady rains from the remnants of Ivan began well before dawn and continued all day moderate to heavy at times. Strong gusty SSE winds 20-30 mph sustained gusting over 40 mph at times. A total of 2.64" of rain fell by midnight... 18: Rain continued overnight ending around 6am another .60" fell for a 3.24" storm total from Ivan. Some minor flooding occurred in the area with major flooding south & east of the area again. Skies cleared during the day with cooler temperatures and breezy conditions. 19: A cool low 42 F this morning. 20: Cool low 41 F this morning and light fog. 22: Warmer high 78 F. Fourth consecutive sunny/clear day. REMNANTS OF HURRICANE JEANNE 27: Became cloudy with light SSE breezes. Sprinkles began around 9:15pm and moderate rain 10:15-midnight .10" rain fell by then. 28: Light steady rain overnight and through the afternoon hours .37" fell, storm total .47" from Jeanne. SUMMARY: Three hurricanes tracked through the area, wreaking havoc on parts of the county and nearby county with flooding, wind damage and tornadoes. All of the month's rain resulted from these storms. Ivan brought the heaviest rain with 3.24" in just over 24 hours on the 17th-18th. Parts of the state were devastated by flooding. Temperatures were above normal through the month and were relatively consistent with no particularly warm or cool weather. Fog was observed on 11 days.
