A thunderstorm moved in from the NW late this evening, dropping a quick .15" of rain. 2: Another thunderstorm shortly after midnight (.18" of rain). 11: First freeze of the season, with frost, low 31 F. 18: Mild high 76 F after a cool, frosty morning. 19-20: Mild with light rain/drizzle overnight (only .12"). 29: Cold low 29 F but a big rebound with a high of 72. 31: Light showers late this evening. MONTHLY SUMMARY Like September, October was exceptionally dry with a meager .52" of total rainfall. This was the driest September-October on record with only 1.18" of combined precip. After overnight thunderstorms on the 1st-2nd, almost no rain fell. It was a very sunny month, leading to large diurnal variations. Daytime highs were above normal, but chilly overnight lows brought temperatures slightly below normal. Following the second driest September ever, this was also the 2nd driest October on record. Additional notes/records October 1994 was the 2nd driest October on record with 0.52" of precipitation. 1994 set a record for driest back-to-back months (1.18" in September and October). This was later broken in 1998 (only 0.92" in November and December).
