DAYS WITH FOG 12 1: Cold near-record low of 31 F with heavy frost and freeze this morning and dense fog. Temperatures rebounded to a mild 65 this afternoon with sun. 7: Warm high 80 F. 11: Cold low 29 F. Increasing clouds with a few light showers. 12: Steady rain overnight and early this morning, .68" fell. 14: Foggy with a brief early PM shower 16-17: Drizzle and light rain showers, dense fog. 20: Cool, cloudy and foggy with occasional rain. 24: Mild high 71 F. 26-28: Light overnight rain showers all three days. 30: Steady rain all day 1.04" fell, the heaviest of the month. 31: Cold high only 40 F sets a daily record low max. Rain showers overnight turned to snow showers but the snow only accumulated in the higher elevations, with as much as 6 inches or more. The top of Piney Mountain just to our west was white by this evening. MONTHLY SUMMARY For the second consecutive year, a heavy frost and freeze occurred on the 1st of October. The month's high of 80 on the 7th was followed only 4 days later with the month's low of 29 on the 11th. Very little rain fell until the 12th when a more active weather pattern brought frequent light to moderate rain events. Heavy rains, mixed with snow, totaled 1.44" on the final two days of October, pushing precipitation slightly above normal, while temperatures remained below normal.
