Brief shower @ 8pm, .05" fell. 4: Early morning fog on the mountains then partly cloudy and warm high 83 F. Thunderstorms in the area this evening 9-10pm but only .08" fell as a big line fell apart. 5: Low clouds and light breezes with periods of light rain and drizzle through the day and evening .10" fell by midnight. 6: Periods of rain overnight. Cloudy and calm with light rain and drizzle ending by 2pm. 7: Clear early then quickly became cloudy with periods of light rain and drizzle. 8: Early fog then gradual clearing. 9: Early fog then gradual clearing, milder. 10: Early fog then mostly sunny and mild, becoming partly cloudy after 2pm. 11: Mostly cloudy and breezy with occasional drizzle and light showers beginning around 10am. 12: Periods of drizzle overnight .03" fell. Cool and blustery with W winds gusting to 30 mph. 25: Mostly sunny and cool with light random breezes. 26: Cloudy early becoming partly cloudy by 10am. 27: Cloudy and calm with rain and fog beginning by 4pm, steady through the evening, .46" fell by midnight. 28: Rain and fog overnight. Strong west winds developed and gusted to 40 mph. Variable clouds with a few brief showers and falling temperatures. Another .42" rain fell today, storm total .88". Thunder-snow was observed in nearby mountain locations. 29: Became sunny and pleasant with diminishing winds. 30: Cool AM then sunny and mild this afternoon high 70 F. 31: Partly cloudy and mild high 73 F. Few light evening showers with gusty winds, rain not measurable. SUMMARY: October was slightly cooler and wetter than normal. It was a cloudy month with frequent light rains and a touch of winter late in the month with the first snow flakes on the 24th. By far the most notable rainfall was 1.60" on the 17th. The month began quite warm with a high of 83 on the 4th, then temperatures were quite variable and overall on the cool side. The system on the 27th-28th brought high winds and thunder-snow to nearby mountains. Additional notes/records 17: Record 1.60" of daily rainfall. 24: Record low max 45 F. Trace of snowfall.
