Drizzle and fog through the evening. 1.22" fell here with much heavier amounts east of the area. 8: Light rain this morning from about 5-11am .27" fell. Foggy with patchy drizzle and falling temperatures this afternoon and evening. 9: Cloudy and cool with a few weak peaks of sun. 10: Cloudy AM becoming sunny PM and warmer than expected...very pleasant day. 11: Light shower around dawn then cloudy with partial clearing in the afternoon. Cloudy again by late evening with some light drizzle. 12: Cloudy and cool with a few spits of light drizzle. 13: Patchy light drizzle and fog overnight. Cloudy and cool again today. Drizzle again this evening. 14: Another cloudy, cool day with some spits of drizzle. Few breaks in clouds late this evening. 15: Partly cloudy and slightly milder with strong NW winds gusting 20-30 mph. 16: Mostly cloudy, cool and windy. NW winds gusted 30+ mph. Few sprinkles late this evening. 17: Mostly cloudy early then mostly sunny, breezy and cool. 18: Mostly sunny and continued windy with seasonable temperatures. 19: Mostly sunny, breezy and mild, pleasant fall day. Became abruptly overcast by 5pm. 20: Mostly cloudy and cooler with a few sprinkles. Light rain 11pm-midnight .04" by then. 21: Occasional light rain overnight. Light to moderate rain 6-9am then occasional light showers. Low clouds and fog. Cool high only 46 F. Lowest max since 5/3/05. 22: Periods of light to occasionally moderate rain overnight and through the day with some heavier rain around 5-5:30pm. Light rain and drizzle continued through midnight with strong west winds 20-30 mph. Another .64" rain fell. 23: Couple light showers just after midnight. Remained mostly cloudy, breezy and cool. 24: Rain began around 3am and continued through the day moderate at times especially this afternoon and evening. Some sleet and wet snow began mixing in around 10pm. 0.93" precip fell by midnight. 25: Light rain and snow mixed overnight changed to all snow at times with a slushy 0.8" accumulation on grassy surfaces by 8am. Periods of light snow mixed and changed back to rain by evening continuing through midnight. Another .39" fell. We were just below the heavy snow line with elevations over 2000 ft getting hammered by 4-8" or more of snow causing tremendous tree and power line damage. 26: Rain ended overnight. Remained mostly cloudy with a few lake-effect rain showers this morning and late afternoon another .11" fell. Continued cold, breezy and blustery. 27: Cloudy and continued cool. Few sprinkles this evening. 28: Continued mostly cloudy and cool. Sleet shower about 12:30pm mixed with rain and snow briefly turned the ground white. Light rain shower around 9pm, .11" melted precip fell. 29: Mostly cloudy during the morning then clearing. Slightly milder but still cool. 30: Sunny and a bit milder, pleasant. 31: Sunny and mild with SW breezes 10-20 mph. Very nice fall day. SUMMARY: After a warm, dry summer-like start, a cooler, wetter weather pattern brought much needed rains to the area in October. Precipitation was above normal. The area was treated to a rare early season heavy snow event on the 24th-25th with elevations slightly higher than this station reporting several inches. Temperatures were near normal. The first week was very warm but the last 10 days were generally cool. Below normal max's were offset by above normal mins. The thermometer did not reach freezing this month.
