Variable clouds and pleasant afternoon temperatures. 2: Mild overnight and mainly cloudy day with light rain showers through the day .08" fell. 3: A chilly overnight low of 36 F with dense fog. Sunny and pleasant day. 6: First frost and freeze of the season with a morning low of 32 F. Clear and pleasant day. 7: Mild sunny day high 72 F. 8: Clear AM skies with patchy dense fog. Sunny, mild & pleasant again. 11-12: Dense AM fog both days then became mostly sunny and mild. 13: Cloudy with light rain showers this afternoon and evening .17" fell. 15: Overcast with occasional rain showers. Windy PM with west winds gusting 25+ mph. 16: Cool and cloudy with light to moderate rain 8am-1pm .21" fell. Strong gusty winds this afternoon & evening with more rain showers mixed with ice pellets. 18: Clear cold AM with light frost & freeze. Became mostly cloudy by 10:30am. Steady rain 3:45pm-midnight .90" fell. 19: Cloudy with fog & drizzle through the day. Another .07" for a storm total of .97" 24: Rain overnight and into the morning. Mostly cloudy rest of day. Fog and drizzle late evening. Rain total .46" today. 25: Very dense fog slowly lifted but remained cloudy through the day. 26: Dense AM fog then cleared to variable cloudiness. 29: AM fog and mist. Light shower around 7am. Moderate shower 10-11pm .12" total. 30: Brief thunderstorms overnight with gusty winds and .16" rain. Mild high 72 F. Showers between 1-2pm brought the day's total to .26". Clearing by 9pm with strong gusty winds from the W and SW 10-20 mph with 25-30mph gusts. 31: Howling winds overnight with gusts 35+ mph. Winds continued all day. Relatively warm. SUMMARY: October was a relatively mild month with few extremes in temperature and only two mornings when temperatures reached 32 degrees. Precipitation was slightly below normal in spite of frequent rain systems from the 13th on. Cloud cover and fog was abundant through the month.
