A few snow flurries late this evening 27: Very cold and blustery winter-like day with a high of 34 setting a new all-time low for October. Snow showers fell but did not accumulate. Very dramatic temperature reversal after a record high just 3 days prior. 29: Cold low 22 F Summary: October was very dry yet again. We've had a string of very dry Octobers in the past 11 years. Here's a quick glance at many recent dry Octobers since 1990 (which was the 4th wettest on record with 6.41 inches). Oct. 1991 - 0.86" Oct. 1992 - 0.67" (3rd driest on record) Oct. 1994 - 0.52" (2nd driest on record) Oct. 1997 - 1.43" Oct. 1998 - 1.42" Oct. 2000 - 0.78" Oct. 2001 - 1.12" Last time October precipitation was above normal was in 1995, which was 5th wettest with 6.12" rain falling. Meanwhile, there were some dramatic temperature swings, particularly late in the month when a record high of 84 on the 24th was followed 3 days later by the record coldest high temperature ever in October with a chilly 24 on the 27th and snow showers.
