Miscellaneous Stats: Mean Monthly Temperature: 45.6 F Year Precipitation to Date: 49.59" Season Snowfall to Date: 2.0" Number of days with: Fog: 8 Ice Pellets: 0 Glaze: 0 Thunder: 0 Hail: 0 Damaging Winds: 1 NOTES AND/OR SIGNIFICANT EVENTS: WARM 1: Mild high 71 F today. 2-3: High of 75 F both days with ample sunshine. 4: Warm again high 72 F. 5: Intermittant rain began about 9:30am and continued throughout the day. Total .50" fell. 6: Intermittant showers with drizzle and fog throughout the day. Rain was mainly light .21" fell. 8: A mostly clear day but clouds moved in right in time for the Lunar Eclipse, then broke up just in time for it to end. Figures! Couple brief sightings of it though during breaks in clouds. RAIN/DAMAGING WIND/FIRST SNOW FLAKES OF SEASON 11: Became overcast with rain late 10pm-midnight .13" fell. 12: Rain overnight was heavy at times, another 1.25" fell by 8am. Persistent dense fog all day. Few more sprinkles at times but no more measurable rain. 13: Some heavy cloud cover at times with numerous snow squalls throughout the day. Snow melted inbetween squalls and never reached more than about 0.5" on the ground but a total of about 1.0" fell. Cold and Very windy also with strong WNW winds 15-30 mph gusting at times 50-60 mph causing a power surge that knocked our Davis station offline about 9:30 pm. Reports of bricks blown off buildings and trees down in the area due to the high winds. 14: Winds subsided to moderate levels today, still a few gusts to 25+ mph at times. Mostly sunny but remained cold high 40 F. HEAVY RAIN 18: Some light showers began late this evening .01" fell by midnight... 19: Steady soaking rain began around 1am. Rain all morning with some torrential downpours from about 11-11:30am. Lighter rains continued all day through 6pm. Total 2.02" fell making it the heaviest rain day 2003 so far. Gusty WNW winds 25+ mph this evening after 5pm. 20: Some morning clouds then clearing in the afternoon. Still windy with SSW winds gusting 25+ mph 21: Mostly sunny & mild high 63 F. 22: Sunny & mild again high 61 F. 24: Some showers from noon-6pm mainly light .20" fell. Strong WNW winds came through with the cold front this evening with many gusts 30-40 mph. 27: Sunny early but became mostly cloudy & mild high 50 F. Dead calm winds all day... RAIN/WIND/COLDER/SNOW 28: Intermittant showers on and off all day. Mostly light .28" fell. Mild with strong west winds beginning about 1pm gusts 30-40 mph. Falling temperatures this evening with light snow and snow flurries, light dusting on the ground by midnight. 29: Light snow and gusty winds overnight. About 1.0" on the ground by 7am. Melted quickly after the sun came out for a bit this morning. Continued windy and cold. 30: Warmer high 48 F with mostly clear skies and breezy. NOVEMBER 2003 SUMMARY November started off very mild. Temperatures then went up and down like a see-saw but overall the month was warmer than normal. The month saw a variety of weather, including heavy rains, snow squalls, dense fog and damaging winds. One system dropped over two inches of rain on the 19th, pushing precipitation above average. Additional notes/records 12: Record daily rainfall 1.25" 13: Daily record snowfall 1.0" fell. 19: Record daily rainfall 2.02" November 2003 had the 3rd warmest mean minimum temperature for November with 37.6 F. The Fall of 2003 was the 4th wettest Fall on record with 14.40" of precipitation.
