Sunny and warm with a rapid rebound to a high of 80 F this afternoon, light breezes. 25: Cloudy with a brief shower around 10am. NEAR-RECORD WARMTH 28: Sunny and hot with light breezes and a high of 90 F. 29: Sunny and hot high 94 F. 30: Sunny and hot high 94 F. Became cloudy after 5pm. 31: Hot and humid with high clouds and hazy sun. Big thunderstorms blew up all around this station in every direction beginning around 4pm but only .01" rain fell. SUMMARY: May 2006 goes down as the 4th driest, but was only .19" from being the driest in 15 years of records. The spring of 2006 was the driest spring on record with 7.00" rainfall. Temperatures were near normal, but varied quite a bit. The first 10 days were mild and dry. A slow-moving trough brought two weeks of cool, showery weather. 87% of the month's rain fell from the 11th-15th. After an unusually late frost on the 23rd, the temperature made a spectacular recovery into the mid-90s on Memorial Day Weekend, with the 94 F readings on the 29th and 30th just 2 degrees shy of the May record of 96 on May 19, 1996.
