Mostly cloudy, breezy and cool with a few sprinkles. 2: Cold again overnight with light rain 7-9am .03" fell. Mostly cloudy, breezy and continued very cool through the day with a few sprinkes. SNOW FLAKES IN MAY 3: Cold again overnight with even some light snow this morning (not measurable). Overcast and cool with gusty NW winds. Some light drizzle this evening. 4: Cold this morning with a freeze and scattered frost. Partly cloudy and breezy. 5: Another cold morning with a freezing low of 32 F and frost. Variable clouds, breezy, milder. 6: Not as cold this morning. Mostly cloudy and hazy. 7: Cloudy during the morning. Showers and storms were all around the area but no rain fell here. Skies cleared after 2pm with strong NW breezes 20+ mph. 8: Sunny and very nice today with gusty NW winds and a high of 69 F. 9-12: Travel to Reno NV. 0.23" of rain in gauge upon return (showers/storms on 11th & 12th). 13: Sunny through the day, increasing clouds after 4pm with thunderstorms around the area late but only .03" rain here. 14: Mostly cloudy, warm and windy with SW winds gusting to 30 mph. Thunderstorm with brief heavy rains @ 5:30pm and light rain through the evening .36" fell. 15: Thunderstorm with moderate to heavy rains between 1 and 2:30 am with light rain through 4am 0.45" fell. Some AM fog then variable clouds and breezy. Cooler. 16: Mostly cloudy, breezy and cool. 17: Cloudy and cold overnight with scattered frost and a low of 37 F. Decreasing clouds. 18: Sunny and pleasant high 63 F. 19: Cloudy with light rain 4:30pm-midnight .12" fell. 20: Light rain 5-6:30 am .09" fell. Cool and clouds with gusty E winds and intermittent light rain. Only .12" fell as heavy rain went north & south of the area. 21: Dense AM fog. Partly cloudy with a two stray brief showers this afternoon. Strong storm to N & W between 5:30-6pm but only sprinkles here. 22: Increasing clouds. Light rain 5pm-midnight .11" fell. 23: Cloudy, cool and foggy with periods of moderate rain through the day .49" fell. 24: Light rain overnight and through most of the day another .24" fell. Continued cool. 25: Cool again and cloudy with a brief shower about 7am only .01" fell. 26: Finally became mostly sunny and warmer today high 70 F. Moderate breezes from NW. 27-30: Away @ Cape Cod. Bands of moderate to heavy rain during the AM and early PM hours of the 28th dropped .62" rain. Another .02" fell on the 30th. 31: Dense AM fog, then mostly sunny and pleasant. SUMMARY: May was cooler and drier than average. The month started particularly cool with even a touch of snow and a couple of frosts. Much of the rain seemed to skirt just north or south of the area during the latter two-thirds of the month with mostly light rains that did not add up to much and a few scattered thunderstorms during the middle of May.
