Summary: May began cold with a frost and freeze on the first morning, but then we had a spectacular warm stretch beginning on the 6th with 8 days in a row in the 80s, peaking at a hot 92 on the 9th. The second half of the month was actually a bit cooler in the high temperature department than the first half, and also considerably wetter. A series of moderate rain systems brought precipitation up close to average. Temperatures were above normal. Additional notes/records 1: Record low 32 F. 7: Record high min of 64 F. 9: Near-record high of 92 F. Would have been a record on any other surrounding date, but this ended up 2 degrees shy of a hot 94 in 1979. 13: Record high 89 F 19: Daily record rainfall of 0.75" fell.
