Patchy fog and drizzle continued through the day and evening hours 1.35" total by midnight. 9: Some showers through the morning heavy at times another .50" fell. Gusty winds and falling temperature by evening. 11-13: Very chilly with frosty mornings and cold days 14: Milder today with a period of rain this morning .12" fell then clearing and windy 17: Some light rain and sleet mixed this afternoon 18: Periods of rain and fog, total .52" fell. 20: Dense AM fog. Rain began about 1pm. Some heavier showers early this evening total .97" fell. 21: More rain overnight, heavy at times another .75" fell. Light mix of precip late this evening. 24: Cold with a few snow squalls today only about 1/4" accumulation. 27-31: Very warm, summer-like days with record highs in the 80s every day. Summary: March started relatively mild and then temperatures dropped, before record warmth at the end of the month. Precipitation was once again above normal, although there was virtually no snowfall. Additional notes/records 8th: Record daily precipitation 1.35" 10: Daily record low max temperature of 34 F. Later tied in 2003. 11: Daily record low max of 30 F 12: Daily record low max 29 F 29: Record high 84 F. Also a record high min of 58 was recorded. 31: Record high 85 F. Ties all-time record high for March set on 5 previous occasions. Also this was the 5th consecutive day in the 80s. The only other time anything like this happened was in 1990 when six consecutive daily record highs were smashed from the 11th-16th. The 12th-16th were all in the 80s. The high in Cumberland today (March 31st) was a record-tying 90 F. Wow!
