Falling temperatures with precipitation turning to snow by evening and accumulating 1 inch. 8: Very cold with a record low max of only 20 F and windy conditions, wind chills below zero with occasional snow showers. 9: Continued cold. High only 26 was also a record low max. Snow showers ending. 10: Cold low 9 F this morning. Not even close to the record which was 1 in 1984. 14: Monthly high of 69 F was reached. Nice rebound after all of the record cold. 15: Mild again with a morning thunderstorm dropping .34" of rain. 17: Cold with periods of rain and snow. 1" of wet snow fell. 19: A cold, steady rain developed in the afternoon and was heavy at times during the late afternoon and evening. 1.39" of rain fell by midnight. 20: More rain overnight changed to snow early this morning with 1" falling. Storm total precip 1.62" 22: Cold and blustery with snow showers 28: Cold with rain, freezing rain and sleet. A half-inch of sleet with a thin layer of glaze on top. Very treacherous conditions and an icy, slushy mess. MONTHLY SUMMARY Cold temperatures dominated much of the month, especially early. This was the 4th coldest March on record with a mean temperature of 35.8 F. Precipitation was above normal, with several light snows totaling 5.5". It was quite an active weather month, with thundersnow, heavy rain, snow squalls, record cold, thunderstorms and a late-month ice storm on the 28th.
