Some sleet mixed in this afternoon. A daily record for snow (8.5") and precipitation (1.17") was recorded. 3: Snow resumed overnight, another 2" fell for a storm total of 12.3 inches. 7: Mild with a period of rain this morning .24" fell. High of 60 F. 9: Heavy snow began this morning, then turned to sleet, then freezing rain, which put a thick glaze on everything. 4" of snow/ice and 1.30" of precipitation. 10: Precipitation changed to plain rain and fell overnight with another .43" for a storm total of 1.73". 18: Cold this morning with a period of brief heavy snow 1.5" fell, then rain showers this afternoon with one clap of thunder, .51" of precip. 21: More rain throughout much of the day, .60" fell. 23: Very warm high 78 F. 24: A morning thunderstorm dropped .20" rain. Warm again high 75 F. 27: Light rain developed overnight and became heavy during the early-mid morning. Showers continued on and off all day with another daily record 1.03" rainfall. 28: Occasional rain showers. 29: More rain overnight. Storm total from the 27th-29th 1.74". MONTHLY SUMMARY March 1994 saw a continuation of cold temperatures and abundant precipitation, with two more major winter storms hammering the area within the first 10 days. The snow season of 1993-94 had the 2nd highest total on record with 77.1" of snow/ice. This was the 3rd wettest March on record with 6.84" of precipitation. 18.5" more snow fell. We also set a record for the wettest AND snowiest first 3 months of a year, with 17.11" of precipitation and 69.8" of snowfall. This was the 4th consecutive very active March, stretching back to 1991 with 5.46" of precip and 4" of snow and a lot of wind and temperatures swings, 1992 with 4.92" of precip and 15.5" of snow in a 12-day period, 1993 which brought the Superstorm and record snows and precipitation, and now 1994, another exceptionally wet, snowy, cold and active March. From 1991-94, 13 precipitation records were set - 8 daily precip records and 5 daily snowfall records that still stand as of 2009.
