Then it left like a lion, with snow flakes flying again and chilly temperatures to finish the month. This was after a rather mild period during the middle of the month. March's temperatures looked like they would follow February's suit of above normal, but ended up only very slightly so, mostly due to above normal mins - max temps were below normal. An unusually chilly air mass moved in the final days, and a weak storm brought rain and snow on the 30th-31st, with mostly or all snow at higher elevations that continued into the first two days of April. March had well above normal precipitation, mainly thanks to two heavy mixed precipitation, primarily rain, events on the 5th-6th and most notably the 9th- 10th. All of the month's measurable snow (3.0") fell from these two systems and was wet and slushy. 2.0" of snow and sleet fell on the 9th before mixing with and changing to all rain, which fell heavily at times through late on the 10th. 3.03", more than half, of the month's rain fell from this system. There was a bit of spring-like flooding in our area. There were a handful of mostly light precipitation events the balance of the month, the heaviest of which fell on the 23rd, when the month's only thunderstorms passed through our area. Additional notes/records: 9th: Daily precipitation 1.41" breaks old record 1.30" in 1994 10th: Daily precipitation 1.62" shatters old record 0.62" in 1976
