The first two-thirds of the month were winter-like with a couple of brief warm spells. Then spring arrived, right on cue, melting the snow and yielding a warm final third of March. This warmth offset the aforementioned coldness, resulting in near normal monthly temperatures. Precipitation stats were impressive, totaling 6.18" with 21.7" snow. Most of the snow came from two major winter storms on the 7th, a southbound arctic front that brought near-record cold, and the 16th, a strong Nor' Easter moving up the coast. The month went out on a mild, quiet note.
