Mix of rain, sleet and snow this afternoon with patchy fog. All snow again 9-11pm and flurries through midnight. Total snow/ice 4.3" melted down to 1.13" liquid precip. 5: More snow overnight 1.5" fell by 7am. Cloudy this morning and variable clouds with gusty N winds to 30 mph this afternoon. Snow showers dropped another 0.5" this afternoon and evening for a storm total of 6.3". 6: Variable clouds with snow showers overnight 0.3" fell. Very windy with N wind gusts to 35 mph. Flurries and light snow through the day but no additional accumulation. 9: Few snow showers overnight, trace. Mostly cloudy with strong W winds gusting to 30 mph. 11: Clear & cold overnight. Mostly sunny, mild & windy AM with WNW gusts to 30 mph. Mostly cloudy PM clearing again by evening. 12: Clear, cold night, sunny & mild until mid-day, then increasing clouds. Rain 7pm to midnight .36" fell. 13: Fog & drizzle overnight. Couple brief AM showers, mild and windy with W gusts to 35 mph. Mostly clear @ night but a surprise heavy shower with small hail between 8-3:30pm and strong gusty winds. Total .31" precip fell. 14: Clearing overnight, mostly sunny & windy day with NW gusts 30+ mph. 16: Periods of rain on and off all day with patchy fog .30" rain fell. 17: Rain ended overnight. Variable clouds with W winds gusting to 30 mph. Sprinkles then snow flurries this evening but not measurable. 21: Light rain and patchy fog overnight. A cold steady rain all day mostly light and occasionally moderate with low clouds/fog. Snow fell in the mountains above 1500 ft. Precip total .87". 22: Clearing skies overnight with NW winds gusting 25-30 mph. 24: Variable clouds. Light rain 9-11am .05" fell. Some spits of rain, sleet & snow this afternoon but not measurable. Became windy with dropping temps as another cold front moved through. 27: Clear & cold overnight, partly cloudy & chilly day with a few snow flurries. 28: Another clear cold night. Sunny and milder today. 29: Cloudy with a cold steady light rain all day mixed with a bit of wet snow. Foggy. Rain became moderate towards midnight .50" fell by then... 30: Light rain & fog overnight another .17" fell, then mostly cloudy with seasonable temps. Summary: An active weather pattern brought ample rain and snow during March. An early Nor' Easter dropped 6.3" of wet snow and ice on the 4th-5th melting down to 1.27" precipitation. It was a cold month with average maximum temperatures colder than that of February! The high for the month was only 58 F and the low a chilly 15 F as late as the 27th. Additional notes/records 4th: Daily record snowfall 4.3" 27th: Daily record low temperature 15 F 28th: Record low 16 F March ranked 5th coolest for maximum temperature with a mean max of 46.0 F. This was colder than February's max of 46.9 F. Only the second time on record this has been noted.
