Winds estimated 50+ mph at this station and near hurricane force in some areas blowing down many trees and power lines. Summary: June began very cool & wet then temperatures rebounded and summer gradually set in with many highs in the 80s and low 90s. Things were rather quiet until a vicious thunderstorm ripped through on the afternoon of the 18th and produced damaging winds and large, damaging hail in the area. Additional notes/records 2: Record low max 62 F today 3: Another record low max 58 F but this record was broken with the all-time record low June max 55 on Jun. 3, 2003. 18: Easily the worst hail storm in recent history. It has been a very long time since golf ball sized hail has been observed here in LaVale. Baseball-sized hail within 2 miles - this is extremely unusual for Allegany Co.
