High of 93 F. 14: Hot and humid high 96 F. 15: Hot and humid high 97 F. Breezy this evening as strong thunderstorms passed west of this station. 16: Extreme heat and humidity high 99. Becoming cloudy this afternoon, a severe thunderstorm at 6:30 pm sneaked in the back door from the NE. This storm brought torrential rainfall, dime-sized hail and winds to 50 mph and higher in some areas, bringing down some large trees. The .76" of rain that fell in a 15-minute period was welcome but did little to relive our parched lawn. 18: Hazy, hot, humid, high 94 F 19: Continued hot and humid with a high of 95 and a record high min of 72. Big thunderstorms all around this station this afternoon and evening but no rain. 20: Very hot and humid high 97 F. 21: Strong afternoon thunderstorms with loud thunder and a lot of lightning but only .05" of rain. Hot and humid again high 91 F. 22: Hot and humid high 92. 23: Brief afternoon thunderstorm dropped a quick .20" of rain. High 90 F. 24: Warm and humid. Evening thunderstorm dropped .15" of rain here but a lot more rain fell in many areas especially to the south & east. 26-27: Brief showers both days, a bit cooler. MONTHLY SUMMARY June 1994 was the HOTTEST JUNE ON RECORD with a mean temperature of 73.3 F. This breaks the 1988 record of 72.0 F. The mean max temperature of 86.9 F shatters the 1952 record of 84.9 F. There were 12 days reaching into the 90s, 11 of them consecutive from the 13th-23rd. During this stretch, 5 daily records were set, with a high of 99 on the 16th the hottest June reading since 1969. 3 record high mins were also set. It was a very humid month with many scattered thunderstorms during the second half, but almost every one of them seemed to break up, dissipate or just miss this station. The only exception was the severe storm on the evening of the 16th, which brought damaging winds and large hail to the area.
