NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS - JUNE 1993

2: Cool low of 40 F this morning.  High only 68 with light PM rain.
5: Showers overnight, .27" fell.
7: Cool overnight low 47 F then warmer this afternoon with increasing humidity.
   Rain began this evening around 10pm and heavy thunderstorms began around
   11:30pm.
8: A couple of brief but intense thunderstorms overnight, and another one this
   morning at 6:30am with .35" of rain in 5 minutes and lightning cracking
   directly overhead.  1.35" of rain fell since 10pm last night, with locally
   higher amounts over 2 inches, pushing some streams out of their banks.
   Warm and very humid today.  Severe thunderstorms passed just to our north
   and east again early this evening, producing large hail and heavy wind
   damage over Bedford Co. PA and northeast Allegany County.
9: Passing thunder but no rain.
10: Warm and humid.  Thunderstorms developed overhead around sunset, passing
    mostly to the south and east.  No rain fell until a thunderstorm shortly
    before midnight dropped .28" between then and 1am on the 11th.
20: Warm and humid with showers passing close by to the east but missing this
    station entirely.
28: Big afternoon thunderstorm threatened but dissipated as it moved through,
    only .07" of rain.

MONTHLY SUMMARY

June began cool and wet, but wound up warm and dry.  The first week was quite
cool with temperatures struggling to get out of the 60s and 70s and several
lows in the 40s.  Most of the month's rain fell during the first 11 days,
with a warm front on the 8th bringing rounds of severe storms and heavy rains
to the area.  Following this front, the remainder of the month was quite warm
and humid, with few thunderstorms and little rain.
