Sunny becoming partly cloudy during the afternoon with light SW breezes. 2: Mostly cloudy. Occasional drizzle and light rain during the PM hours .10" fell by midnight. 3: Occasional light rain overnight and through the morning, drizzle during the afternoon another .18" fell. Fog on the mountains. Continued cool. 4: Cloudy early, then some partial sunshine and warmer with light breezes from SW. 5: Fog early, then became sunny and very warm with light breezes. 6: Early AM fog clearing by 9am. Became cloudy by 4pm. Solid line of storms did the usual split and went north & south with only a bit of rain and moderate wind gusts. Storms rapidly became severe over the eastern half of the county where torrential rain, hail and wind damage was reported. A few more brief thunderstorms late this evening. Total .20" rain fell. 7: Early morning fog, then mostly sunny and very warm with little wind. 8: Partly cloudy and warm with calm wind. 9: Partly cloudy early, then variable clouds. Thunderstorms in the area 2-3pm but no direct hits. Only .07" rain fell. 10: Cloudy early then partial clearing. Warm and humid with light SE winds. Thunder to west @ 2pm but no rain. Variable clouds with a thundershower 5-5:30pm dropping a brief heavy downpour. Another storm late this evening 11pm-midnight with frequent and intense lightning and another good downpour. A total of .60" rain fell from the two storms. 11: Thunderstorm ended shortly after midnight. Early fog, then partial clearing and hazy, very warm and humid. Thunderstorm between 5-6pm with some heavy downpours .46" fell. 12: Partly sunny and hot high 90 F but with slightly less humidity and light SW breezes. 13: Sunny early with increasing clouds through the morning. Showers between 1:30-3pm dropped .17" rain. Generally calm wind. 14: A very mild overnight low 73 F. Clear early then partly cloudy and hot high 90 F. Light SE breezes shifted to NW late this evening as a front came through but a line of storms broke up. 15: Mild overnight low 71 F. Partly cloudy with light NW winds and not as hot or humid. 16: Partly sunny skies after a brief shower about 7am (trace). Light west winds, cooler. 17: Partly cloudy with light W winds and cool temperatures. 18: Cool overnight low 50 F. Sunny becoming partly cloudy with light W breezes. 19: Cloudy early then gradual clearing through the day. 20: Clear, then partly cloudy with light & variable winds. 21: Clear AM, partly cloudy PM and warmer with light W winds. 22: Cloudy this morning with light rain between 7-9am. Became partly cloudy with light N breezes. Passing thunderstorm about 3:30 just to the west but no rain. Brief thunderstorm about 5:30pm with rain but no direct hits, clearing afterwards. A total of .13" rain fell today. 23: Early morning fog, then sunny and warm with no wind. 24: Sunny, hazy, warm and humid with very light breezes. 25-26: Sunny, hazy, hot and humid both days, highs 89 F and 88 F, respectively. Calm wind. 27: Hazy, very warm and humid. Partly cloudy skies with no wind. 28: Clear and calm early then increasing clouds after 10am with S breezes < 10 mph by 4pm. Showers and storms formed over the area between 9:30-11pm with some heavy downpours .76" fell. 29: Early fog cleared by 9:30am. Partly cloudy all day. Line of showers and storms broke up as it approached the area late this evening only .04" rain fell with some distant lightning. 30: Early AM fog, clearing by 9am. Cloudy during PM hours. Thunder with a little rain @ 3pm only .02" fell with breezes from W. SUMMARY: June was warmer and drier than normal. This was the hottest June since 1994 with a mean temperature of 71.1 F and the second hottest overall. Thunderstorms were scattered about but with no particularly high amounts from any one storm and provided little relief from the heat and humidity. Additional notes/records 1: Record low max 63 F 13: Record high min 68 F 14: Record high min 73 F 15: Record high min 71 F June 2005 set a new record for warmest mean minimum temperature with 61.1 F. Overall, June 2005 tied 1957 and 1996 for 4th warmest June on record. Big reversal from May, which tied for 4th coolest.
