Very cool high only 58 F. 11: Hot high 93 F. 12-13: Thunderstorms hit hard in other areas but dropped little rain here. 15: Afternoon thunderstorm .25" rain fell. 16: A series of severe thunderstorms developed just SE of this station and kept forming and reforming in the same areas with torrential rain and damaging winds over the eastern part of the county and parts of the WV Panhandle. 3 to 4 inches of rain fell just south and east of the Cumberland area, causing major flash flooding. Zero rain fell at this station. 26: Hot high 91 F. 27: Cooler with a brief heavy PM shower .33" fell. Very heavy rain just north. MONTHLY SUMMARY June was a warm month with temperatures nearly 2 degrees above normal. It was a month of missed storms. Almost everywhere around us seemed to get hammered at one point or another, but storms repeatedly broke up, or narrowly missed, especially to the south and east.
