Heavy thunderstorms and showers moved through the area this afternoon and evening dropping 1.12" of rain. 19: Heavy rain and thunderstorms overnight and early this morning. Another round of heavy storms this afternoon another 1.47" fell storm total rainfall 2.59". Some flooding and wind damage was reported in the area, with several tornadoes to our north and east. 22: Steady rain all day .65" fell. 25: Thunder but no rain. 29: Thunderstorms late this evening with heavy downpours .72" fell. 30: Overnight showers and storms. Big thunderstorms again this evening with heavy downpours another 1.32" rainfall today. 31: More overnight heavy rain and thunderstorms, ended mid-morning. Another .80" of rainfall for a storm total of 2.84". MONTHLY SUMMARY After a quiet, dry first half, a couple of slow-moving frontal systems dumped heavy rains on the area during the second half of July. Precipitation totaled 6.92 inches, the 2nd wettest July on record. 2.59" fell on the 18th-19th and another 2.84" fell from the 29th-31st from strong thunderstorms. Despite a few scattered hot readings, July was cool, more than 2 degrees below normal. There were 3 overnight lows in the 40s and 7 days that failed to climb out of the 70s, one day (3rd) in the 60s.
