DAYS WITH FOG 9 THUNDER 10 3: A brief thunderstorm early this afternoon dropped a quick .15" rain. 6: Very hot and humid high 95 with heat indeces over 105. Big thunderstorms developed all around this station in every direction but no measurable rain fell here. 7: Hot and humid with a brief afternoon thunderstorm, only .07" of rain fell. 8: Very hot and humid high 97 F heat indeces near 110. 9: Hot and very humid high 95 F. Big line of thunderstorms split again as it moved into the area with once again only a trace of rainfall. 14: Warm and humid with a thunderstorm early this evening bringing brief heavy downpours .43" of rain fell. 15: Hot and humid again. More storms threatened but yet again broke up as they approached the area. 19-20: Hot again highs 92 and 93 with unpleasant humidity and heat indeces. 21: Warm and humid with a good afternoon thundershower dropping .51" of rain. 22: Partly cloudy, thunderstorms from 9pm-midnight. Another .62" fell here but like yesterday most of the rain passed just to the south and east. An automated rain gauge at Pinto (about 8 miles south) recorded 2.33" of rain this evening, and Cumberland reported 2.37" of rain the past 2 days. 25: A brief downpour at 11am, .25" rain fell, then sunny and pleasant. 26: Brief PM thunderstorm, severe just to south, clearing in the afternoon. 27: Cooler with steady rain on and off all day, .58" fell. 31: A surprise intense late evening thunderstorm began at 10:30pm. The storm developed just to our SSW and moved in quickly, bringing torrential rain and 30+ mph wind gusts. 1.25" of rain fell in only 45 minutes, setting a daily precipitation record. MONTHLY SUMMARY July 1994 was another hot one, with temperatures averaging nearly 2.5 degrees above normal. There were 11 days in the 90s, after 12 in June. The first half of the month was a bit hotter than the second half, with the June pattern of thunderstorms repeatedly splitting continuing. A lot of other storms either barely missed us, or dropped very heavy rain on nearby areas with modest amounts here. However, a surprise thunderstorm late on the 31st dumped 1.25" of rain in only 45 minutes, pushing monthly precipitation above average.
