Severe thunderstorms hammered the eastern half of the county between 5-10pm with damaging winds, hail and flooding but not a drop of rain fell at this station. 19: Early fog then sunny and hot. 20: Cloudy early then partly cloudy. Big storms blew up just to the south around 3pm, no rain fell. A brief shower around 7pm, storms blew up again just to the west late this evening. 21: Thunderstorm 12-12:30am with heavy downpours .54" fell. Thunderstorm dropped .41" rain between 6-7pm. 26: Dense AM fog then partly cloudy, warm and humid. 27: Mostly cloudy. Showers and storms in the area this afternoon and evening but no direct hits only .05" rain fell. 28: Partly cloudy with a few brief light showers. 29: Partly cloudy and warm with light NW breezes. 30: Line of thunderstorms dissipated as it moved into the area around 7:30am, only .01" rain fell. Became sunny and hot this afternoon high 95 F. 31: Cloudy this morning with a brief shower around 10am then became mostly sunny and hot high 94 F. SUMMARY: Despite numerous showers and thunderstorms in the area, precipitation was below normal. In fact, 20 days had measurable rainfall, which is a July record, yet it was the second driest July in 15 years of record. Meanwhile, it was a very warm, humid month. The mean temperature of 75.2 F made this the warmest July since 1999. The 95 F reading on the 30th was the warmest in over 4 years (since 7/4/02, when the max reached 97).
