About 3" snow and another 0.5" solid ice. Total liquid precip .56" fell. 11: Very cold low 6F and high only 16F 16: Periods of rain this morning. Strong cold front came through with gusty winds and rapidly falling temperatures this afternoon. Snow squalls during the evening hours dropped an inch of snow. 17: Clear and frigid overnight low of -6F. High only 13F during the day. 18: Very cold again low -2F high 15F 19: Continued extremely cold. Low -5F and high 18F 24: Heavy snow during the midday hours about 3.5" fell 11am-3pm. Snow changed to freezing rain during the late afternoon and evening hours tapering off by 7pm. Total .64" precip. 25: Another .12" rainfall overnight. Heavy AM fog. 27: Some light snow this afternoon. Freezing rain this evening .30" fell and .40" total (through 1/28) 29: Cold low 10F Summary: January brought some very warm and very cold temperatures, ranging from a warm 71 on the 4th to a frigid -6 on the 17th. Precipitation was slightlyy below normal despite three significant ice storms. Additional notes/records: 3rd: Record high min temperature of 55 F. Ties Jan. 15, 1995 for all-time warmest low temperature in January! 4th: Record high 71 F. Highest January reading since 1975 (72 on Jan. 29th), 22 years! Also a daily record high min of 50 was set. The 11th-19th had an Arctic air invasion. 5 days remained in the teens, and all but one day had a low in the single figures, three of them below zero (17th-19th). 12: Record low max temp high only 18 17: Record low max of 13 F. Low of -6 is very cold but nowhere near the record -15 set in 1982. 18: Record low max high 15 77 degree range between the month's high (71) and low (-6) sets a new January record.
