DAYS WITH FOG 8 SLEET 1 GLAZE 3 THUNDER 1 1: An ice storm, which began during the evening of Dec. 31, 1994, continued overnight with fog and light glaze continuing. About 0.2" of ice accumulation. 5: Cold high 22 low 6 F. 6: Cold low 9 F. Milder today but an icy mess of sleet and freezing rain during the evening hours, a half-inch of ice and 0.60" of melted precip. 10: Occasional snow showers, 0.4" fell. 11: Fog and light freezing rain. 14: Very mild high 65 F. One degree shy of the record 66 set in 1952. 15: Very mild again high 64 and low only 55, which sets an all-time high minimum temperature for January. Meanwhile, a daily precipitation record was also set as heavy rain fell overnight and through mid-morning 1.37" of rain fell (1.44" in 24 hours beginning late on the 14th). 20: Overnight rain showers and a thunderstorm about 3am, .62" of rainfall. 28: A brief period of moderate snow this evening, 1.0" fell in about an hour and a half. Very late date for the first full inch of snow to fall! MONTHLY SUMMARY January 1995 was mild, with temperatures 3 degrees above normal. The coldest temperatures were observed the first week, with a couple of ice storms, then very mild, spring-like air moved in at mid-month, accompanied by heavy rains on the 14th-15th and an all-time monthly high min temperature of 55. A surprise thunderstorm was observed at 3am on the 20th. The first full inch of snow finally fell during the evening of the 28th, as the winter of 1994-1995 has continued its lack of snowfall. Despite the low snow total (2.2"), monthly precipitation was above normal with 3.16 inches. Additional notes/records 14: High 65 just misses record of 66 in 1952 15: High 64 F.
