Became party cloudy by noon then overcast again by 4pm with drizzle and light rain 0.25" fell. Mild high 54 F. 2: Cloudy with light rain/drizzle early. Became partly to mostly sunny by 10am. 3: Sunny and mild, calm wind. 4: Sunny and mild high 64 F. 5: Cloudy and mild with occasional sprinkles. 6: Cloudy early becoming partly to mostly sunny by 10am. Mild again high 63 F. 7: Sunshine through high clouds early becoming all overcast by late morning. Steady rain began around 4pm and continued through midnight .51" fell. 8: Light showers early. Became breezy with partial sunshine by 10am and falling temps. 9: Breezy and cooler with variable clouds. Snow flurries this evening. 10: Snow flurries overnight and through most of the day. Partly cloudy, colder, blustery. 11: Sunny becoming cloudy by mid-afternoon with some light rain late this evening. 12: Cloudy with periods of light drizzle after 4pm, not measurable. 13: Cloudy and mild with calm wind and periods of drizzle. 14: Mild with low clouds and fog and periods of drizzle. A few peaks of sun after 2pm. 15: Cloudy and mild high 64 F. A bit of drizzle around noon, trace. Temperatures began to drop during the evening. COLDER 16: Cloudy and breezy, colder with occasional light snow showers. 17: Sunny but cold and blustery. 18: Cloudy and colder. 19: Cloudy early with snow flurries (trace) and strong west winds gusting to 30 mph. 20: Flurries overnight. Mostly sunny but continued cold and windy with gusts to 30 mph. SNOW! 21: Cloudy and cold with a period of light to moderate snow from 11:30am-5pm 2.0" fell. This is one of the latest 1+" snowfalls on record. 22: Cloudy all day with a few snow flurries by late evening. 23: Mostly cloudy with a few light snow flurries in the morning. 24: Cloudy with occasional flurries. 25: Mostly cloudy with AM snow flurries. Heavier snow showers began around 5pm 1.0" fell by midnight. 26: Mostly cloudy with a few snow flurries this afternoon. 27: Mostly cloudy with a bit of light rain around 9pm, not measurable. 28: Light AM snow shower then mostly sunny. Became cloudy again and breezy by 5pm with snow showers resuming. 29: Sunny and colder with light breezes. 30: Clear early becoming partly to mostly cloudy. Snow flurries and moderate breezes began around noon. 31: Mostly sunny becoming partly cloudy during the afternoon. SUMMARY: All and all, this was an uneventful winter month. The first half of January was very mild, while the second half was much more seasonable with near to below normal temperatures. Still, temperatures were well above normal. There was a lack of precipitation and snowfall with only 1.29" and 3.5", respectively. It was the driest January in 16 years of record. A persistent west to northwest flow caused a lot of precipitation to be dumped on the mountains to our west, leaving us in the shadow. Additional notes/records 6: Record high 63 F.
