Partly cloudy. 2: Early AM shower, cloudy, mild. 3: Early AM shower, light PM shower .08" fell. Still mild. 4. Occasional light drizzle. Very mild again. 5: Rain began overnight and continued through the day moderate to heavy at times 1.25" fell. Windy at times with temperatures falling through the day. 6: Low clouds/fog below mountain tops. Occasional light rain .20" fell. Some partial clearing late with light north winds. 7: Cloudy with occasional light breezes. Rain 5:30pm-midnight mostly light .28" fell. 8: Rain overnight ended by mid morning another .40" fell. A bit of partial clearing by 11am with light west winds. 11: Rain began around 8am and became heavier by 11am. Moderate to occasionally heavy rain with fog through most of the afternoon and evening. Exactly 1.00" fell by midnight. 12: Cloudy with calm winds, drizzle and fog through the day .04" fell. 13: AM fog. Mild high 57 F with fog clearing then increasing clouds during PM hours. 14: Rain overnight mostly light .23" fell. Mostly sunny but blustery & cold with gusty NW winds. 19: Light snow began around 9am. Light snow and flurries throughout the day. Cold. 22: Snow began around 6am and became heavy at times during the morning tapering off this afternoon. Flurries and light snow showers through the rest of the day. Total 4.0" snow fell melting down to 0.46" water. 23: Mostly cloudy, snow flurries, blustery & cold high only 18 F. 24: A chilly low of 4 F this morning. 26: Milder temperatures all day high 43 F. Temperatures dropped again this evening. 27: Sunny, breezy & cold high 24 F low 12 F. 28: Clear & cold overnight low 7 F. 29: Became cloudy. Light snow and snow showers this afternoon and evening 0.7" fell by midnight. 30: Light snow & flurries overnight about another 0.3" for a total of 1.0". Clearing PM skies. SUMMARY: The first half of January more closely resembled March with spring-like temperatures and abundant rainfall. The second half of the month felt much more like January with the last 17 days all reaching below freezing. It was also drier with one significant snow event. Overall, temperature and precipitation were both above normal with below normal snowfall.
