MONTHLY SUMMARY The relative lack of winter weather and unusually mild temperatures continued in February. There was a lack of any particularly cold weather. Several nights remained above freezing, and the mean minimum temperature of 30.1 sets a new February record high. The winter months December-January-February averaged 36.4 degrees, 4.7 degrees above normal and the 4th mildest winter on record. The same period had only 9.2" of snow, the 3rd lowest Dec- Jan-Feb total in 64 years of records. Little snow fell, and warm ground and air temps quickly melted away any snow that did fall. Along with well above normal temperatures, precipitation was near normal for the 4th consecutive month, despite the lack of snowfall. February in general was dry, but heavy rain on the final (extra) day, the 29th, brought the month's total up to normal. Aside from this event, the weather pattern was relatively quiet, with mostly weak systems that passed through the area. February was a breezy month, but not nearly as windy as January.
