A cold low of 7 and high of only 21. However, these were not records, as 1958 had a high of 17 and a low of 4 on Dec. 10th. 13-14: An overnight mess of snow, sleet and freezing rain. An inch of snow/ice accumulation. 15-16: Rain began late on the 15th and continued into the predawn hours of the 16th with .60" falling. 18: Light rain developed during the evening. 19: Light rain changed to freezing rain, then moderate to heavy sleet during the mid-afternoon, before finishing off as light snow during the early evening. 2 inches of snow and ice accumulated, and .95" of liquid precip fell. 20-22: Cold, windy and blustery with snow flurries. MONTHLY SUMMARY: December was notably cold with a mild start but 14 days failing to reach above freezing. All but two overnight lows were freezing or lower. Precipitation was below normal, with nearly all of it falling in a one-week stretch between the 13th-19th. Two signficant ice storms impacted the area on the 13th-14th and again on the 18th-19th. The 2 inches of snow and ice remained on the ground through the Christmas holiday thanks to cold, cloudy conditions. Additional notes/records 19: Daily record precipitation 0.83" but later broken with 1.23" in 2008.
