Light rain and snow showers this evening beginning at 6pm. 4: A cold rain overnight mixed with some sleet and snow. Total 0.4" snow/ice, .21" precipitation. Mainly cloudy with some light drizzle this afternoon. 5: Cloudy with steady temperatures and calm wind. 6: Partly cloudy, calm wind. 7: Partly cloudy, light SW wind. SNOW! 8: Sunny AM becoming cloudy by 1pm. Snow began about 4:30pm and continued through the evening 2.0" fell by midnight. 9: Snow heavy at times continued overnight and tapered off by 8am. Another 6.0" fell for a storm total (so far) of 8.0". Became mostly sunny during the day, then partly cloudy after 3pm. 10: Flurries/light snow overnight another 0.3" fell. Then mostly sunny during the day. 11: Partly cloudy, breezy and blustery. Few snow flurries this evening. 12: Few snow showers overnight 0.3" fell by 7am. SNOW/ICE STORM 15: Fine snow began about 8am and became heavy by 9am. Snow all day changed to sleet by 9pm. About 5.5" of new snow/sleet accumulation by midnight. Very icy and slushy. 16: Precipitation ended overnight. Became partly sunny and milder today. 17: Partly sunny, seasonable temps. 18: Sunny, again seasonable temps. 19: Cloudy and cooler with SW winds around 10 mph. 20: Sunny, cold AM, breezy with wind gusts 20+ mph. 21: Cloudy early then clearing and continued cold. 22: Cloudy AM becoming partly cloudy during the afternoon. 23: Partly cloudy and milder. 24: Partly cloudy, calm. 25: Sleet began this morning about 7am then a cold rain through the day. Most of it was light .39" fell by midnight. 26: Cloudy with occasional drizzle and light to moderate breezes from the north. 27: Cloudy and breezy becoming partly cloudy and calmer. 28: Cloudy becoming partly cloudy during the afternoon. All cloudy with light drizzle by 4pm, trace. 29: Low clouds and some light AM rain only .03" fell. Strong W breezes to 20 mph in the afternoon. 30: Cloudy, light NE breezes around dawn. 31: Cloudy with a period of rain between 11 am and noon .04" fell. Then partly sunny. SUMMARY: The first half of December was consistently cold with two significant winter storms within a week (8th-9th, 15th) producing most of the month's precipitation and snowfall. Snow was above average, while precipitation was slightly below. Meanwhile, a Pacific airmass moderated temperatures around the holidays and nearly (but didn't quite) offset the below normal trend of the first 3 weeks.
