Variably cloudy skies during the afternoon. Thunderstorm between 8-9pm with no direct hits only another .02" rain fell. 5: Low clouds & fog overnight. Variably cloudy & cooler. Thundershower about 6pm dropped .12" rain. 6-8: Very cool and clear nights with brilliant sunny days. Lows 46, 48 and 44 F respectively. 11: A hot and humid day with some heavy overcast but no rain. 12: Mild and humid day with thundershowers between 1-3pm dropping .62" rain. Fog developed around 11pm. 13: Fog and haze overnight with mild temperatures. Brief thundershowers between 5-7am dropped .11" rain. Light rain 9-11am and a few more showers through the day and evening .38" fell. 16: Hazy hot and humid day with mostly sunny skies. Big solid line of thunderstorms approached from the NW then split and went all around this station late this evening. Lightning & thunder in every direction but no rain fell. 17: Light rain overnight .20" fell by 7am. Partly sunny hot and humid today with more storms passing north & south of the area. Finally some moderate to heavy showers with imbedded thunder 11pm-midnight .47" total. 18: Heavy downpour just after midnight dropped .24" in about 10 minutes. Light rain and drizzle this morning another .01" fell. Partial clearing in the afternoon and slightly cooler. 20: Light rain began overnight and became moderate to heavy through the morning hours. Light rain and drizzle continued through the evening 1.22" total rainfall. Very cool high only 63 F. 24: Another very cool overnight low 44 F with dense AM fog. 28: Thunderstorms in the area around 2am dropped .07" rain but no direct hits. AM fog, then partly cloudy, hot & humid. Summary: August was a relatively uneventful weather month in the area. Temperatures were slightly on the cool side thanks to some cool nights early and late in the month. Scattered showers and storms brought near-normal precipitation.
