DAYS WITH FOG 10 THUNDER 7 DAMAGING WINDS 1 1-4: Hot and humid all four days with highs well into the 90s. Thunder on all but the 3rd. A strong storm just missed us to the SE on the 2nd. Only .02" of rain fell from the storm on the 4th. 5: Warm and humid with a surprise thunderstorm at 1pm dropping a quick .33" of rain in only 5 minutes and strong wind gusts that brought some limbs down in the yard. After a brief clearing, light, steady rain resumed by late afternoon. 6: Heavy rain overnight 1.51" fell by 8am. Remained cloudy through the day. The 24-hour storm total of 2 inches was the result of a slow-moving cold front approaching from the north and the remnants of Tropical Storm Erin from the west. 10: Strong storms in the area, mostly passing just to the east of this station. 11: Intense afternoon thunderstorm with heavy rain, frequent lightning and gusty winds .57" of rain fell. Like yesterday, this storm moved in from due north. 13: Brief heavy midday shower .09" fell. A warm front passed through and it became quite hot and humid with a high of 92 F. 14-15: Hot highs of 96 and 94 F. From the 13th-17th, 5 consecutive lows were 70 or above. This is very unusual and four (13th-16th) set new daily record high min temperatures. 16: Last measurable rainfall of the month. The 17th began a record 26-day stretch without measurable rain that finally ended September 12th. 19: 8th consecutive 90+ degree high temperature. 31: Hot high 92 and muggy overnight low 68.
