MONTHLY SUMMARY The final summer month of 1993 closely followed the pattern of the first two, in that August had a cool, wet start, only to finish hot and dry. In June and July, this temperature trend is somewhat expected, but it is backwards for August. It is very unusual to have such persistent and intense heat so late in the month. 96 was recorded three times, on the 24th, 27th and 28th. The summer of 1993 finished as the 3rd hottest summer ever with a mean temperature of 73.6 F, just beating out the very hot summers of 1983 and 1988, but shy of the 1987 and 1991 marks of 73.9 and 74.2, respectively. The summer of 1995 later tied 1991 for hottest on record and bumped 1993's summer down to 4th, but this was still a very hot summer. Additional notes/records 6th: New all-time daily low max for the month of August with a high of only 62 F. 11th: A daily record 1.09" of rainfall. 24th: Record high 96 F. 25th: Record high 95 F. Also a daily record high min of 71 was recorded. 31st: 8th consecutive day with temperatures 93 or higher. Very unusual for late August. The Summer of 1993 was the 3rd hottest summer on record with a mean of 73.6 F.
