Low 22F. 4: Clear and much warmer--a June-like day high 82 F 8: Some strong gusty winds, falling temperatures and a bit of light rain late evening 9: Snow showers overnight and very cold low 17F 10: Again unusually cold low 16F. 12: Light rain 11:30am-4:30pm .19" fell. Dense evening fog. 15: Another chilly frosty morning low 22F 16: Clear & cold overnight but warmed up to a mild 72 F. 24: A few PM showers and a light thundershower about 5pm. Only .03" rain fell. 27: Steady light to moderate rain all afternoon and through the evening total .50" fell by midnight. 28: Another .07" rain overnight and foggy. Some partial clearing by mid-afternoon. Summary: As usual for April, temperatures fluctuated wildly through the month. There were a number of very cold & frosty mornings. Temperatures were below normal. Precipitation was well below normal, struggling to the 1-inch mark. Additional notes/records 9: ALL-TIME RECORD LOW for April low 17 F with heavy frost 10: ALL-TIME RECORD LOW for April low 16 F beating yesterday's record. Hard, killing frost and freeze 15: Record low 22 F 20: Another record low 24 F April 1997 was the 2nd coldest April on record with a mean temperature of 46.1 F. The record coldest was 45.7 F in 1975. The mean low temperature of 32.7 however did set a record low for April. April 1997 was also the 2nd driest April on record with 1.01" of precipitation. Driest was 0.84" in 1971.
