Skies partially cleared, then another heavy thunderstorm about 2pm dumped another .60" of rain in only 15 minutes. 1.64" of rain set a new daily record and caused minor flooding of local streams. 15: Very warm high 86 F. Brief heavy thunderstorm early evening with gusty winds. 19: Warm high of 84 F with a brief PM shower. 23: Record low of 30 F this morning. 24-28: Big rebound in temperatures with 5 consecutive days in the 80s. 88 on the 25th and 89 on the 26th. Thunderstorms brushed the area around midday on the 27th. 29-30: Record high min temperatures of 59 F both mornings. A mild thunderstorm at mid- afternoon on the 29th; a series of thunderstorms during the early evening hours of the 30th dropped .64" of rain. 1.35" of rain was reported in Cumberland. MONTHLY SUMMARY Though few monthly records were set, April 1994 tied April 1954 for the warmest April on record with a mean temperature of 57.0 F. This was a major rebound from a very cold winter of 1993-94. Precipitation total of 3.77" was very close (barely above) average.
