WARM 2: Dense fog cleared by 9am. Became breezy after noon with W winds gusting to 20 mph. Warm high 82 F. 3: Cloudy early then mostly sunny and warm high 82 F. Some clouds again by 4pm. 4: Predawn shower and remained cloudy until 1pm, then partly cloudy with gusts from NW to 30 mph. 5: Mostly cloudy with occasional snow flurries and gusts from NW at 20 mph. Cold high only 36 F. COLD - BLUSTERY - SNOW FLURRIES 6: Light pre-dawn snow showers. Partly cloudy with gusts from W at 20mph. 7: Partly cloudy with snow flurries. Began to drizzle at 1600 hrs with moderate to occasionally heavy rain arriving during the evening. 15: Cloudy with rain tapering off around dawn. A total of 1.60" fell overnight. Became very windy with north winds gusting to 40 mph. 16: Cloudy with periods of light rain and snow. Windy with gusts from NW 30+ mph. No snow accumulation here but substantial accumulations on nearby ridges. MONTHLY SUMMARY This was the coolest April since 1997 and the second coolest overall (since records began in 1992). After a brief early warm-up, temperatures plummeted below freezing for a week straight (5th-11th). Temperatures finally returned to seasonal from the 20th on, with a couple of brief warm streaks. Meanwhile, this was the 3rd consecutive month with a big storm at mid-month. A Northeaster brought heavy rain and high wind on the 14th-15th and heavy mountain snows on the 16th. Overall, precipitation was near average.
