Light rain 10am-1pm then partly sunny. Brief thunderstorm around 4pm with light rain ending during the evening, .20" total fell. 4: Sunny and breezy with west winds gusting to 20 mph. Increasing clouds during the afternoon with rain showers during the late evening. A LITTLE SNOW - COLDER 5: Light rain showers turned to snow showers overnight, 0.3" accumulation. Became partly sunny by 9am. Windy, blustery and chilly. WARMER AGAIN 6: Clear and much warmer high 71 F with high clouds after 4pm. 7: Light rain during the early morning hours ending by 9am. Clouds broke then filled in again by 2pm. Showers this evening 10pm-midnight, .21" total for day. 8: Light rain began in the predawn hours and continued through noon another .27" fell. Became partly sunny by 4pm. 9: Cool, clear and breezy. 10: Clear, cold AM and mild, sunny PM. 11: Another cool morning followed by a sunny and warm afternoon. 12: Partly cloudy with thin cloud cover clearing around 4pm. 13: Showers and thunderstorms in the area around 1am. Most of the storms were to the north. Partly cloudy, warm. More storms dissipated as they moved through between 8-9pm. Total rain from both storms .13". 14: Cloudy with a brief shower late this morning. Became partly cloudy this afternoon. Severe storm passed just to the SW around 9pm with a little rain and west wind gusts to 20 mph. 15: Partly cloudy and warm with light west wind. 16: Partly cloudy, seasonal temps. 17: Light AM rain .11" fell, then clearing during the afternoon. 18-19: Sunny and pleasant. VERY WARM 20: Sunny and unseasonably warm, high 82 F. SOAKING RAINS 21: Partly cloudy and warm with light N breezes during the afternoon. Periods of rain began around 5pm and continued through midnight .41" fell. 22: Rain overnight heavy at times. Steady and moderate rain continued during the morning and ended by 2pm another 2.05" fell since midnight. Remained cloudy during the afternoon. Much cooler tempreratures. 23: Low clouds with thunderstorms and brief showers this morning .22" rain fell. Partly sunny, breezy and warm this afternoon. Total rain since 24: Cloudy overnight with some drizzle, then clearing and pleasant during the day. 25: High overcast most of the day. Became breezy this afternoon with gusts to 20 mph. Rain began around 3pm and ended during mid-evening .25" fell. 26: Chilly with light frost this morning. Partial sun through high clouds much of day. 27: Clear and calm. Partial clouds developed by mid afternoon. 28: Sunny and pleasant with light west winds. 29: Clear and cool early then sunny and mild with light north wind. 30: Overcast during the morning with partial clearing in the afternoon and light winds. SUMMARY: April was a warm month with near normal precipitation. It ranks as the 2nd warmest April in 15 years of records and the warmest since 1994. There was a lack of extremes in either direction with only one day in the 80s but also only two nights reaching freezing. Although there were numerous days of rainfall, more than half the month's precipitation fell from a slow-moving Low over the Mid-Atlantic on the 21st-22nd.
