RAIN/SNOW/WINDY/COLDER 2: Occasional rain through the night with strong E winds gusting 20-30 mph. Rain mostly ended by noon. Winds shifted to S and then W with falling temperatures and a rain/snow mix beginning around 5pm. Snow continued through the evening with NW winds 10-15 mph and about an inch of accumulation by midnight. 3: Snow continued overnight with strong NW winds gusting over 40 mph. Cold and blustery with periods of snow continuing throughout the day and fierce NW winds gusting to 45 mph. Some scattered wind damage in the area. Clearing skies by 9pm. A total of about 5.0" of snow fell today (.23" water equivalent). 4: Clear and cold overnight with gusty W winds 30+ mph. Clear, windy & milder today. 5: Clear & cold overnight. Mostly sunny and breezy with winds shifting to SW and much warmer high 68 F this afternoon. 6: Sunny and warm with brief gusty W winds around 1pm. 7: Cloudy and mild with very light showers through the day only .02" fell as most of the rain skirted just to the south. 8: Dense fog overnight then becoming sunny and pleasant. 9: Clear skies, mild with light winds. 10: Clear and warmer, light breezes. 11: Mostly sunny and slightly cooler with light winds. 12-13: Mostly sunny both days with light winds from E. 14: Clear/sunny and breezy with gusts to 20 mph from NE. 15: A few clouds early and cool then sunny and seasonal temps. 16: Another sunny day with moderate breezes mostly from the SE. 17: Hazy sunshine becoming mostly cloudy by late evening. Moderate breezes from SW shifted to NW. 18: Fair, hazy and mild with gusty NW winds. 19: Fair and hazy becoming mostly cloudy and breezy with a few sprinkles. Thunderstorms to the north between 5-7pm but no rain here. 20: A mix of sun and clouds with mild temperatures. Strong storms to W and NW by 6pm. Rain finally moved in 9:15pm-midnight with gusty W winds .31" rain fell by midnight. 21: Fog and mist overnight and much cooler high only 48 F. 22: Cool with fog and moderate rain during the afternoon and evening hours .48" fell. 23: Gusty W winds 30+ mph and another .27" rain overnight. 24: Unseasonably cold and blustery with NW winds gusting to 25 mph. Snow squalls during the afternoon and evening hours. About 1.0" snow fell by midnight. 25: Snow showers continued overnight with another 1.0" for a total of 2" by 7am. Light snow and rain showers mixed with some periods of sun. Strong W winds gusting to 35 mph. 26: Milder with gusty S to SW winds gusting over 30 mph and increasing clouds. 27: Strong W breezes with mostly clouds skies. A couple light showers. Only .03" fell as a large system split and went north & south of the area. A bit cooler high 52 F. 28: AM clear skies becoming mostly cloudy with PM light showers. West winds gusting to 30 mph and cool. 29: Overnight light rain & fog. Continued cool. 30: Overnight light rain and fog .16" fell by 7am. 20-minute shower about 3pm dropped .16" more rain and another shower about 5pm brought the day's total to .34". SUMMARY: After a cold March, temperatures rebounded nicely in April. It was a warmer than normal month with two brief cold snaps, both of which were accompanied by strong winds and snow squalls. A total of 8 inches of snow fell, but precipitation was below normal.
